Leonard’s Nursery opened its doors to serve Sarasota and surrounding areas in 2021.  Since location is key to any business, Leonard Hendry had been patiently looking for the ideal site when he drove down Fruitville Road finding that opportunity with the open lot for rent.  Quickly, he secured the location and opened his doors for business.  While the business location is relatively new, Leonard began his entrance into horticulture in his early teens, working in a family-owned nursery where he was mentored by the owners.  Leonard continued expanding his skills in landscaping and container gardening, creating unique designs for homes and businesses.  As a Florida native, Leonard developed a depth of knowledge that is hard to beat.  This knowledge, combined with his creative design skills, sets him apart from his competitors.  
MEET BEVERLY ESTES

As a native of Wisconsin, Beverly treasured the limited growing season, taking the Spring to prepare and plant, the summer to groom the plant beds, and the fall season to enjoy every moment of her gardens before the first snowfall.  Moving to Florida represented a whole new way of gardening, learning how to navigate the multiple growing seasons as well as different plant material.

During 2021, Beverly met Leonard as a customer, looking for creative options for design/plant solutions for her lanai.  They quickly hit it off and soon began spending time at the nursery, learning along the way.

As the landscaping business continued to grow, it was apparent that someone else needed to step in to take over the nursery business.  In February 2025, Leonard handed the reigns over to Beverly to oversee the operations of the nursery while he concentrates on the growing demands of his landscaping business.

With continued guidance from Leonard, coupled with Beverly’s business and art background, a dynamic team was created whose common thread is in the belief that customer service is everything!
